Synthesis and applications of thiosulfonates and selenosulfonates as free-radical reagents

Chalcogenative sulfones (thiosulfonates and selenosulfonates), as reactants for organic transformations, are widely used interesting because of their potential to react with nucleophiles, electrophiles, free radicals. As stable radical reagents, the synthesis applications chalcogenative have opened up a novel pathway synthesize many kinds compounds containing sulfur or selenium motifs. However, despite numerous recent works on thiosulfonates selenosulfonates no review has yet provided summary literature. In this paper, we aim strategies reagents reported over past several decades. Different types catalysis discussed in review: (i) metal catalysis; (ii) visible-light (iii) synergistic (iiii) other types. Concurrently, metallaphotoredox sections, highlight that developing relatively environmentally friendly synthetic methods area is always great challenge, but also persistent pursuit. Finally, scopes, limitations, mechanisms, existing problems some reactions described briefly.
